Day Eight Hundred & Eighty Eight!

I was very lucky to have been personally asked by Nottingham Racecourse to show my collections again at the first Ladies Day of the Year after a very successful show last year.

My focus for the future is very much to try and promote and celebrate ‘real’ women (and by that I don’t mean that models aren’t real women….because they are!) wearing my collections rather than the industry standard size 6 model as I feel for most women this is unattainable and to be quite honest stops so many women I have spoken to buying my clothing because they feel the outfits won’t suit their shapes.

With this in mind i thought it would be really lovely to use ‘real’ women in a range of different sizes and ages for today’s show….so in the run up ran a competition online for 12 lucky women to win the chance to model for me!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The lucky ladies were: Rebecca Essam, Sue Cadman-Morris, Helen Holwell, Kirsty Edwards (also marketing manager of the Notts Racecourse), Charlotte Holwell, Clare Lambert, Claire Hufton, Deborah Dinneen, Dominika Korkcokova,  and Amber Brown.

For today’s show I was very lucky to be able to collaborate with some amazing business women I met through a networking group Aspiring Business Women that I am an active member of.

 

 

 

Hayley is a very talented image consultant and personal stylist based in Nottingham.

She very kindly styled all the chosen pieces from The Blue and Grey Collections into outfits and decided which styles suited each of our models different body shapes.

So after many weeks of preparation, meeting the lucky ladies, fittings, hair and make-up brainstorming and an agonising hunt for the perfect catwalk music we woke up to a sunny (but rather windy) day for Ladies Day.

We did three shows across the afternoon and despite some initial nerves all the ladies did absolutely amazing!

Dominika one of the lovely ladies who modelled for me said about the day “Yes I would like to do it again in August and I loved the clothes very classy , elegant some of them cool also , I really enjoyed that day , hair stylist and makeup artist were very friendly to me , and models also , catwalk went well I just loved it every second of it!”
…so yes I’m doing it all again in August for the second Ladies Day of the year on the 14th August so very excited to launch my next competition!

We are going for a slightly more ‘Ladies Day’ appropriate look with my collections this time so very excited to have teamed up with the very talented milliner Vicky Aldridge of Vea Designs. You can find out more about here on her FB page HERE         We also have the fabulous Hannah Georgina Gardener of Vanity Lashes providing the lashes for the day for all of our fabulous models. Hannah is a local beauty salon owner that has developed her own line of lashes and lash training courses! Check her out HERE                   On hair we have Megan Walker from The Vanity Rooms in Bingham Nottingham. Find out more about them HERE               All the finished looks will be photographed backstage and on the catwalk by the very talented Ursula Kelly of Ursula Kelly Photography. Ursula’s work has secured her over 30 photography awards and she has photographed some iconic faces including Sir Bob Geldof, Sir Paul Smith and British actress Julie Walters. Ursula specialises in Portraiture, including model portfolios, professionals needing strong business portraits and high-end couture boudoir portraiture for women wanting to treat themselves or a partner to some stunning photographs.
