‘Local award winning designer links up with local charity craft company & derby women’s centre to provide their users with confidence building sewing workshops”
Local award winning designer ‘Fazane Malik’ has recently linked up with a local craft company ‘Whiffle Pig’ to provide confidence building workshops for the users of Derby Women’s Centre.
Fazane says “I was really honoured to be asked to be involved in this project and pass on my sewing skills to women and in the process hopefully help to build up their confidence”
The brainchild of ‘Whiffle Pig’ a local craft company who use 50% of their profits to run various charity workshops said “This four day course will see each of the ladies get to make an outfit with the help of Fazane and ourselves, with the end result being photographed. Each lady will be given a make-over on the final day and then model their designs for the camera with each lady receiving their image as a memento. We really hope that through this workshop not only will they have gained some sewing skills but also a confidence boost through the photo-shoot at the end”
Derby Women’s Centre was chosen as the venues for the workshops as Whiffle Pig have run workshops there previously and is one of their preferred charities.
