‘fazane’ is a new and exciting womens wear brand for women of all ages. our aim is to provide ‘classic’ clothing & accessories with a twist. pieces that will fit easily into any womens existing wardrobe but still ’wow’ in a crowd.

born in ilkeston, derbyshire ‘fazane malik’ the designer and brains behind our brand ‘fazane’ started desiging clothes at the age of 4 for her Barbie dolls using old pillowcases for fabric in 1999 fazane participated in ‘Young Enterprise’ which is a business set-up competition and mentoring scheme between all the colleges in the uk. through this she started to set-up her own label and won ‘Best Achiever of the Year’ in Nottingham and then again in the regional finals.

fazane went on to study a BTEC ND in Fashion & Clothing at New College Nottingham from 2000-2002 and then onto Derby University to do a BA (hons) Fashion & Clothing from 2002-2006.

in 2005 fazane spent 6 months in Australia working with two of their top designers ‘Akira’ and ‘Gwendolynne’ which gave her valuable experience and new skills.

fazane continued to design one-off garments for private clients through-out her time at university but the actual business was put on hold…fazane says “although I desperately just wanted to go off an do my own thing, create my own collections and work for myself I had to be realistic and spend a good few years learning my trade and meeting people in the industry….at the time I thought I knew it all….I didn’t!”

after graduation fazane went straight to work for a clothing manufacturer and in a short space of time worked her way up to Senior Account Manager looking after brands and retailers such as Joseph, Jaeger, Boden, FWM, Whistles, Ossie Clark, Paul Costello and Monsoon.

although fazane loved her role  it had always been her dream to get her label up and running again when the time was right. early in 2010 she was given the chance to show a small collection in derby, which was well received so she set about designing a full collection and creating the brand ‘fazane’ which launched in june 2011 to a select audience of buyers, investors, press, friends and family.

our first collection went on sale for aw12 which is available to purchase in our online shop or via many of our worldwide stockists.
